It’s nearing the end of 2010, it is my 35th birthday tomorrow and I’ve been thinking a lot about my life — where I’ve been and where I’m going. I am taking this birthday a little harder than I thought. Up until now, I kept saying that I had plenty of time to truly find myself and accomplish all of my dreams and goals because I was still in my early 30s. This past week, however, I’ve been thinking more like…”Oh my gosh, I’m in my mid-30s…where has the time gone?” What a difference a year can make!
Don’t get me wrong…I know that I am still a ‘Spring Chicken’ in many people’s eyes, but through my eyes…I see a woman who still wants to do many things in her life and feels like time is quickly passing her by. So…what does this mean and what should I take from this? Over the past few weeks, I’ve been asking myself this question.
There are many things that I’ve always wanted to do since I was a little girl that I have been able to accomplish and more importantly — have been blessed with:
• Go to college and earn a degree √
• Find a fulfilling job in my field and be self-sufficient √
• Find the man of my dreams and marry him √
• Go on as many vacations as I can and see other countries √
• Design my own home and actually build it someday √
• Have lots of babies with the love of my life (okay…how about 3 babies) √
• Be a stay-at-home mom to those little angels √
• Be the best mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend that a woman can be √(I hope)
Now…as I approach my 35th year of life, I am reflecting on things that are still tugging at my heartstrings and the areas in my life that I want to work on and become better at:
• Be more patient and not get so worked-up about the small things
• Volunteer more of my time and give even more to others in need
• Spend as much quality time as I can with Mark and the kids
• Be an even better mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend
• Keep trying to look as young as possible ☺

That's a great list. You've accomplished a lot already, and you should be proud of that! I think part of aging is reflecting on what we've done and how we'll leave our mark on the world. I know some things have become more and more important to me as I grow older, too. As long as you continue to pursue those goals, I think you'll do great!

Happy Birthday! I love your list. And 35 is not "old" at all. 🙂 Thanks for following me.

Happy belated birthday 🙂 You have some great things checked off your list already – congrats! I think that your list of things 'to do' are fabulous, and they are most DEFINITELY achievable. Sometimes it takes us a little longer to get where we're going…. but that makes the journey all the more worthwhile – some of the distractions you face along the way can be pretty amazing 🙂 I'm also a believer in age being just a number. At the end of the day, it's how you feel that counts. I don't identify with my age at all LOL – 37 but feel 21!

Hi Stacy! I just found your blog and LOVE it!
This post rings so true for me as well… I'm half-way thru 34 right now and was just trying to explain to my husband the other day how 30 didn't really bother me but 35 … 30-FIVE!! *sigh* You know…
So anyways, happy belated 35th birthday & I'll be peeking in here from time to time! 🙂
